We’ve been working hard on a new feature to reduce the amount of people that enter the channel and leave almost immediately. We’ve added a new system to the channel bot (our esteemed overlord) which will automatically ban anyone who joins the channel and parts within a short period of time.

Currently if you join and part within 60 seconds, you will be banned from the channel for 30 minutes. This happens regardless of whether you have said anything or not.

There are exceptions to this. If you have a profile registered with the bot, you are excluded from this “drive by” checking. If you disconnect from the network (either ping timeout or quit) this also won’t be classed as a “drive by” event.
